The male reproductive system comprises a pair of testes. It produces the sperms.Sperms leave each testis through a tube-like structure called the sperm duct or vas deferens, which eventually unites with the urethra. As the sperms move through the sperm ducts, fluids are released into the ducts. The sperms travel down the urethra, which passes through an organ called the penis. It transfers sperms from the urethra into the female reproductive organ.

The female reproductive system consists of a pair of ovaries, the oviducts or Fallopian tubes, the uterus, and the vagina. The ovaries begin to release eggs when a female reaches puberty. The ovum passes into the tube-like structure called the Fallopian tube. The sperms enter the female reproductive system through the vagina. As they travel upwards the Fallopian tubes, they may come across the ovum. Fertilization, hence, takes place in the Fallopian tubes.
