explain the function of split -ring commutator in a dc motor .

The function of the split ring is to reverse the current at that point..when the shaft of a dc motor comes in the contact of a split ring then split ring reverse the current in order to keep the shaft in torque..in a magnetic field..

split ring reverse the direction of current after every half rotation and keep the rotation of coil in One Direction.
