Hi.....
Proteins are macromolecules made up of smaller molecules called amino acids that are bind together by peptide bond. To become an active, functional protein, the chain of amino acids folds in on itself forming a twisted and entwined three-dimensional structure.
Proteins are essential for life. Proteins are the building blocks of biological system. It plays many important roles as:
1. It transfer genetic information from generation to another in form of genes.
2. It works as enzymes to catalyse many of the important reactions taking place in biological system.
3. In form of antibody it constitute the safety mechanism of biological system.
4. It also provide the mechanical support in form of structural protein like collagen and elastin.
5. Contractile proteins build muscles that help in movement.
6. Hormone proteins regulate body functions.
Hope it will help u.. :-)
