Functional limitations of sense organs

Explanation:

  • Every minute, the brain receives numerous sensory signals or impressions in the form of sights, odors, sounds, tastes, and touches from the basic sense organs respectively.
  • All these impressions or signals must be interpreted and processed to retrieve the information and it becomes tough to capture the details of each sensory signal.
  • Since the functionality of the sense organ is limited, it leads to functional limitations.
  • In order for the stimulus to be picked up or noticed, it should have a definite weight called the absolute limen.
  • Our eyes cannot picture all the finer details and hence we keep moving our eyes to look all around and our nose cannot detect all the smell, due to functional sensory limitations.
