In case of the second class magistrates, certain serious criminal cases are dealt with by this magistrates. they can sentence a person to imprisonment for not more than one year or impose a fine of rupees 5,000 or both.
In case of first class magistrates, this magistrates take up still more serious criminal cases and Howard imprisonment up to 3 years or a fine of rupees 10000 or both. they can hear appeals against the decisions of magistrates class 2.
