The given extract is from the poem "It's a puzzle" by Allan Ahlberg. The poet's friend does not seem to be behaving in a friendly manner. She is ignoring the poet. So, the poet is feeling left out. Also, the poet thinks that she does not consider the poet as a friend. The poet then realises that the friend could also be pretending. Maybe she is only playing a prank on the poet, but the poet definitely cannot understand what is going on and is extremely confused. Friendship has become a puzzle for the poet because of the friend's behaviour.
