the revolt of 1857 was the landmark in the history of india struggle for freedom.it started on may 10,1857with the mutiny of soldiers in meerut cantonment.......

there are many causes for revolt of 1857

political cause-doctrine of lapse ,created fear and resentment among indian rulers ....

economic cause-the zamindari system exploited the peasents who were forced to grow only those crops that the British industries required

social and religious cause-the Hindu law of property was changed to enable a Christian convert to receive his share of ancestral property

military cause-the sepoy had helped the British to establish their empire in India but instead of receiving awards ,they were humiliated by the British

result of the revolt -the rule of East India company ended with queen victoria proclamation .

the governer general was given the title of viceroy

by the end of 1859,British authority in india was fully re-establish
