The trapping of the sun's warmth in a planet's lower atmosphere, due to the greater transparency of the atmosphere to visible radiation from the sun than to infrared radiation emitted from the planet's surface.

The green house effect is defined as when the earth's atmosphere becomes thick with gases and substance which trap the sun's radiation ,making the earth warmer.

An example for green house effect is global warming....
