magadha was originally a janpada. it was located in bihar and land was rich in iron ore. magadha become rich by selling iron ore to other kingdoms.also magadha has fertile soil. it also has the vast forest cover .forest provide timber.
when bhimbisara ascended throne of magadha , he and his son ajatshatru (who later became king) annexed other kingdoms . they madam magadha powerful. thus made magadha powerful.
