one historical reason is the low level of economic development under the colonial govt... The policies of colonial govt. ruined the traditional handicrafts and discouraged the developements of industries like textiles.

4.Conquest etc...
they atole the richness of india...they took away our spices,diamonds,cotton and silk and sold them at high rates in other world markets Then the revolt of 1857 and due to Ignorance of diseases and other sanitation practices ..also due to the high revenues and forest laws..
