Explain the humour in the best seller by o henry

In the whole story we see that John kept on criticising the best seller.He says that in these books usually the boy is from a economy class and the girl is from business class, falls in love.whereas in real life one picks a girl from the same school or from the same course that they studied.further he tells that the boy chase the girl to her big mansion and at last they get married.he tells that these stories are not applicable in real life. whereas we see that the married life of John was same as the story of best seller which is ironical.this creates much humour and ammusemnt for the reader.
