Heya

By saying how the Revolution of technology ie the telephone pole isn't in comparison with the nature around him, the sun for example. on first reading i get the impression, he's not very happy about it being there "slung in the air" tells us its been just placed there with no thought. This could be a place where he grew up. the fourth line is the most moving to me, its almost as if were going to get a change in the poem, "it is love" but he then again goes on to talk about war, fighting and money. line 5 explains to us how the wire has seen everything and heard everything, but the lack of imagery lets us see how its completely unaffected by this, where a person who had been told the news would be. finally line 6 tells us how its there to stay thru any type of weather, or anything it whitnesses. its there to stay.

i think the idea of the poem when sandburg was writing it, was technology, even though its built for comunication, it's destroying the fundamental of natural comunication.

the best thing about poetry is its open to any ideas, if you dont like mine then im sure theres more you can get out of it. i allways find background info of the authour helps too for when im doing school projects .

hope i helped :)
