Ans. The Himalayas has played the important role of a foster mother for the Indians. The Himalayan mountain ranges stand like a mighty wall and protect India from foreign invasion. The Himalayas act as a mighty climatic division. The moisture laden south-west monsoon winds are obstructed by the Himalayas.

Ans.The sea lanes in the Indian Ocean are considered among the most strategically important in the world with more than 80 percent of the world's seaborne trade in oil transits through Indian Ocean and its vital choke points, with 40 percent passing through the Strait of Hormuz, 35 percent through the Strait of Malacca and 8 percent through the Bab el-Mandab Strait.
