The non-farm economy activities include those activities that are not associated with farming in order to earn income. The non-farm activities in rural areas play an important role in generating employment for people. It may also prevent the migration of rural people from rural areas to the urban, due to the shortage of job opportunities. The rural nonfarm activities receive limited resources and engage a larger section of workers. Moreover, rural industrialization, (falling under the classification of non-farming enterprises) indirectly has methods to spin-off farming industries too.
