People As A Resource :

Everything available in our environment which can be used to satisfy our needs, provided we have the technology to make it accessible and economically feasible, can be termed as Resource.

Human beings interact with nature through technology and create institutions to fulfill their needs. Gifts of nature, such as air, water, soil , forest, and minerals as well as man-made creations, such as buildings , houses, transport etc are resources because they Satisfy our needs.

Human beings are also a resource because they have the ability , skill and knowledge to find new uses of existing resources and to find new resources. A thing becomes a resources only when it's utility has been identified., example :- oil has existed on Earth for million of years, but it became resource only when man learnt to use it for transport and other uses. So, when a thing becomes useful, it becomes a resource.

Humans are the most important resource. A country may have abundant and varied natural resources, but, it needs people to utilise these resources. It is the people with their skills and abilities that they turn them into Resource. Humans use their skills, knowledge and education to utilise resources efficiently and contribute to the Development of the country. Healthy and educated people can utilise resources efficiently.

The use of resources changes with the Development of technology. Earlier , Man used wood to make wheels, light fire for cooking and for making houses. Gradually man learnt to make ships and railway sleepers. With the Development of technology, Coal is being used for producing thermal electricity. So, Time and Technology are the two important factors, which can change s Substance into Resource.
