pH plays a very important role in tooth decay

since tooth decay is associated with bacteria so when we eat things which are sweet in taste at that time these bacterias start breaking down that sugar and produce acid which provides an acidic medium to our mouth and hence tooth decay starts

that's why our toothpastes are basic in nature they react with acid and maintains our mouths pH
