mitosis and meiosis are types of cell division which occur in eukaryotic cells it's a type of cell division

1. Mitosis- when a cell having a given no. of chromosomes divides to form 2 new cells having each having the same no. of chromosome, then such division is called Mitosis or Mitotic cell division. eg- Division in muscular cells, skin cells etc

2. Meiosis- When a cell having a given no. of chromosomes divides to form 4 new cells each having half of the no. of chromosomes then such division is called meiosis or Meotic cell division.
