Explain the important features of thorn forest??

Thorn forest -These forest lies in those area where seasonal rainfall averaging 250 to 500 mm. mostly lies western part of the continent.

it has following characteristic.

1) short stunted and scattered trees.

2)  Trees in this category are acacia, date-palm, cactus etc

3) leaf are short and thin, some trees has no leaf only stem. which help them to reduce evaporation of water.

Answer -

Thorn forests and Scrubs are located at the places where the rainfall is less than 70cm.

Generally, this type of vegetation is found in North western part of India.

Also, It's found in the Semi Arid regions like in the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana etc

Palms, Acacias, Cacti are the main species.

The important feature is that the trees are scattered and have long roots in order to get the moisture. The stems conserve the water.

Leaves are mainly seen thick and small so that to minimize the rate of evaporation.
