The revolution was triggered when the state's general convention was held in Versailles on May 5, 1789. Third estate demanded double representation and ended up separating from the first and second estate. King secretly brought troops to the Paris and caused havoc among his own citizens.

As you that when Louis XIV was the king in 1774, he was under pressure due to a crisis in financial status of the country. Now, to suffice for all the debts they had which increased after their war they fought with 13 American colonies against common enemy- Britain , the king was forced to increase 10% interest on loans.

Also many taxes were imposed on Third Estate people. After that, a series of chain reactions led to the outbreak of French Revolution and in the end Louis XIV and his wife, Marie Antoinette were sentenced to death after he was charged of treason.
