On 5th May 1789, an Estate General Meeting took place.
It was the first time after 1614. It took place in a resplendant hall in Versailles.
The 1st and the 2nd estates sended 300 representatives each and the 3rd estate sended 600 representatives excluding all the peasants, artisans and womens but carrying 40,000 letters along with them.
The 3rd estate was not allowed to come inside and also their was a system of one vote to each estate. This wasn't accepted by the third estate and Mirabeau and Abbe Sieyes who later on formed the National Assembly.
