Blood group is the division of blood on the basis of presence or absence of specific antigens ,though blood is made of definite components like hemoglobin ,plasma etc. But the antigens differs and on the basis of the difference the boodgroup can divided into 8 divisions and these antigens can trigger the patients immune system against the transfused blood.Safe transfusion can be done by careful typing and cross matching.
Main blood groups are-
A =WHEN ANTIGEN A IS PRESENT IN BLOOD CELL
B =WHEN ANTIGEN B IS PRESENT IN BLOOD CELL
AB =WHEN BOTH ANTIGENS A&B ARE PRESENT
O =WHEN NEITHER OF THEM ARE PRESENT
And +&- of blood are classified on the basis of RH factor.
