The different ways that animals and plants are interdependent in an ecosystem because they depend on each other for basic survival needs like food, protection, shelter and propagation. Plants provide food for animals and humans, who cannot make their own foods like plants do. Plants and trees also provide shelter and protection for different animals like birds, squirrels and insects.

For example, during the summertime, plants and trees can provide shade for many animals. Birds also build nest high up in trees away from predators. Similarly, plants also benefit from animals in that animal can aid in seed dispersal ensuring the survival of plants in other regions of an ecosystem. Bees also help in the pollination of plants in a habitat.

Plants and animals are interdependent on each other as:

Plants give out oxygen that is very essential in our sustainance. Also we give out carbon dioxide that is used by plants for photosynthesis.
Plants provide us food and we on our decaying mix to soil and provide plants the essential minerals.
Plants provide us basic material like wood, medicine and also a habitat to many other organism while animals on other hand help in seed dispersal, pollination and other vital processes that are very important in plant's life.
Therefore it is apt to call plants and animals as species that are interdependent on each other. It is just like a symbiotic relationship.
