There are 4 Quantum Numbers in total which can describe an electron in an atom completely :-
Principal Quantum Number, nn - Electron Shell or Energy Level of an electron. The value ranges from n=1n=1to outermost shell of the atom.
Azimuthal(Angular/Orbital) Quantum Number,ll -Describes the subshell and gives the magnitude of the orbital angular momentum by L2=ℏ2l(l+1)L2=ℏ2l(l+1) and the value of llranges from 0…(n−1).0…(n−1).
Magnetic Quantum Number, mlml - Specific Orbital within the subshell and has integral values ranging from −−l…l.l…l.
Spin Quantum Number, msms - Spin of the electron, ms=±12.ms=±12.
All the 4 Quantum Numbers describe the state of an electron in an atom accurately and as you can see all the numbers are interrelated to each other in some or the other way.
