There is an inter-relationship between population, environment, and development.

Explanation:

Development is a changing process, where the change can be negative as well as positive.

Population refers to the number of people living in an area.

Environment refers to the atmospheric condition in an area. All these three factors are greatly dependent on each other.

  1. All the environmental factors affect the population. Example: Heavy rains can cause flooding which can cause loss of life and affect the population. Similarly, good rains can help in better crops which will help in the economic conditions of the population as well as their development.
  2. Similarly, development cannot take place if the human resource in the form of the population is not available for work. Population is a major factor in the development of a nation. However, overpopulation can also act as a hindrance in the process of development.
  3. Development can affect the environment as well. Developmental activities such as infrastructure building are harmful to the environment which in result causes issues such as climate changes, global warming, etc. This in return again affects the human population and the cycle is never-ending.
