Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court

Original Jurisdiction :-

The Supreme Court divide disputes between the :-

(a) Government of India and the state government

(b) Government of India and any state vs. other states

(c) Between two or more states.

Appellate Jurisdiction :-

The Supreme Court hears appears against some decision of the High Court in three types of cases :-

(i) Civil

(ii) Criminal

(iii) Interpretation of the constitution

Protection of Fundamental Rights :-

The Judiciary protect the fundamental right of the citizen. To protect the rights of the citizens, the judiciary can issues the written directions to the concerned authorities.

Advisory or Consulative Jurisdiction :-

The president may obtain the opinion of the judiciary (supreme court) on a question of law, which in his opinion is of public importance. The Court mein report its opinion after the cheering as it think to be fit.

Guardian of the Constitution :-

The Supreme Court acts as the guardian of the constitution. If the government passes any law issues any order which is in the violation of the constitution the Supreme Court has the power to declare that law or order unconstitutional.

Courts of Record :-

It means that all ine decision and proceeding are published and kept as record. They can be quoted as the precedence to other such cases. Important decisions of the high court are also kept in record for future reference .
