Land is used in India for various purposes.
That are:
i) Agriculture
ii) Forestry
iii)Mining
iv)Grazing etc.
India is now remaining with only 47% of Forests Land.
Land under forest has not increased in India much since 1960 and 1961 because of the human factors such as:
i)Over population
ii)Cutting of forests for developing urban areas.
iii)Making settlement over the area of forests.
Thanks;)

Answer :
About 45 per cent of land is used as net sown areas, i.e., farming.
About 22 per cent of land is under forest and the rest of the land is used for various purposes; such as housing, recreation and industrial activities.
The main reason that forest land has not increased since 1960-61 is that there is an increase in population and subsequent increase in demand for resources.
