Answer:

Explanation:

The land reserves in India are essentially classified into farming land, forest land, land anticipated for pasturage and grazing, land for other non-agrarian usage and wasteland. The rocky, desert and arid areas come under the category of wasteland. Some of the non-agriculture usages of land include housing, roads and industry. The data for 2002-03 (collected by the government) shows that the  54% of the total land area is fallow, forests cover 22.5% of the total land and 3.5% is practiced for grazing. The residue is a wasteland, with evidence of mixed farming. The improper use of forest area has diminished the accessible land field and has made conservation of woodlands difficult. Human actions such as deforestation, mining and quarrying have added to the slow extension rate of forests. Thus, the area under forest has extended by nearly 4% since 1960-61.
