The highest increase was in forest cover category and the highest decrease was in barren unculturable waste land category. It is discouraging to note that inspite of massive efforts cover, the area under other non agricultural uses is still increasing.

The decline in barren and waste land can essentially be attributed to the increased in the areas under non agriculture use due to massive urbanisation and development of roads, railway and canal etc.

There are 18.11% of forest, 12.01% of barren and unculturable waste land, 4.95% of area under non-agriculture uses, 4.71 % of permanent pasture and grazing land.
