The ideas of liberty and democratic rights were the most important legacy of the French Revolution. These spread from France to the rest of Europe during the nineteenth century, where feudal systems were abolished.  It inspired the Germans, Italians, and Austrians to overthrow their oppressive regimes.  The French Revolution inspired the struggling nations of Asia and Africa who were groaning under the oppression of european colonialism

During 19th century nationalism emerged as a force which led the emergence of nation state in place of multinational dynasty empires of EUROPE .
The French revolution(1789) paved the way for modern nation state.
To emphasise the nation as a united community the French revolution introduced new ideas like la Patrie(the fatherland) and le citoyen(the citizen).
And a new French flag among the French people.
It introduced a centralised administrative system with uniform law for all citizens
