He can summon or prorogue the Parliament and dissolve the Lok Sabha. He can also summon a joint sitting of both the houses of the Parliament

He can address the parliament at the commencement of first session after general election and each year

He nominates 12 members of Rajya Sabha who have special knowledge or practice in the field of literature, science, art and social service. He also nominates 2 members of Lok Sabha from Anglo Indian Community
