In equilibrium ,limiting force of friction between two contacting surface is equal and opposite to the applied force.

So ,when a force is applied on the body at rest ,to put it in motion .,at that time the minimum force required to make the body slide or move ,is called limiting friction force.

At that moment ,this limiting friction is that value of force ,beyond which ,if the force is applied further ,body will no longer remain in rest & and it will start moving.

Law of limiting friction :

The limiting force of friction is directly propotional to normal reaction between two surface in contact .

It is independent of the apparent area of two contacting surface.

It depends upon the nature and material of surface in contact.hope this will help..

the direction of limiting friction force is always the opposite of motion of the body. the magnitude friction force is equal to force that tends to move the body. the magnitude of limiting friction is always have a constant radio with normal reaction force which acts between the two surfaces
