Generally speaking, democracy limits the growth potential of a country. I'll expand on this statement.
In a democratic country, it is less likely for the government to make the best decisions for the country as a whole, due to a lot of constraints. Or sometime even any decisions.
Compared to a country lets say authoritian. Any decision would be made faster and more efficient. Yet there is always the possibility it is a horrible decision
