The words spring and summer mean the happy times of the elder person with his/her family. But soon, his children become young and married and they leave their old parents to an old age home. These lines portray the feelings of those old parents who now have to live without happiness in the closed, solitary room of old age homes. Here the poet refers to the elderly person as infant as there in no one take care of him now and he is independent and frail as a new born baby.
