Explanation:

They did not die from the cold without.......

they died from the cold within.....

Cold within refers to their cold heartedness......for they all had a piece of wood which could have saved their lives from the brutal cold.....bt they were hesitant in putting their logs in the fire bcoz each of them possessed a sin such as racial discrimination....revenge.....envy.....religious intolerance......they did not wanted to warm their enemies sitting around that same fire.....

Each piece of wood possessed by each of them was symbolic of the sin which was in them .......which later became the reason of their death........

Thats what u find in the poem......that 6 people represent 6 sins.....and thats how the title is so apt....."The cold within"

Moreover......this poem is a mirror to our modern society.......

I hope this will help you ⭐⭐
