When the sunlight falls on a plant the plant use the sunlight and start prepare thier food in leaves in form of glucose and the remaining food will store in form of starch which plants use in rainy day or when the sunlight is not fall on it. In the process of photosynthesis plants use water, oxygen and carbon dioxide. Hence, plants make their own food by the process of photosynthesis

Photosynthesis,
A complex process by which green parts of the plant synthesis organic food in the form of Carbohydrate and carbon dioxide and water in the presence of Sunlight and chlorophyll .
The raw material for photosynthesis are carbon dioxide and water and light energy and chlorophyll. Its end products are glucose and oxygen .
carbohydrates are utilised for providing energy to the plant the remaining carbohydrate are stored in the form of starch that serves as internal energy reserve and is used by plants whenever required. Glycogen serves as an internal energy reserve to be used when required in animals .
another answer,
= major events of photosynthesis ,
1.absorption of Sunlight by chlorophyll .
2.conversion of light energy into chemical energy and splitting of water molecule into hydrogen and oxygen .
3.reduction of carbon dioxide to carbohydrate .
