The main difference between dissolution of the ions of sodium chloride in water and dissolution of a protein molecule in water is that sodium chloride solution conducts electricity but protein solution can not conduct electricity.

  • Sodium chloride or common salt when dissolve in water it breaks into sodium ion and chloride ion. This ions helps to conduct electricity throughout the solution.

The reaction is-

NaCl\rightarrow Na^++Cl^-.

  • Protein dissolved in water but did not produce ions. Thus protein is highly soluble in water but can not conduct electricity.
