Param Padma was built in April 2003. So, it is already 16 years old. There have been enormous developments in the field of computing during this time. The CPUs have become more powerful and scalable with better architecture. The GPUs have come to the aid and taken computing to another level.

When compared to today's supercomputers, Param doesn't stand a chance. It's computing power is 1024 GFLOPS (~1 TFLOPS) , with a total storage capacity of 1 TB (Industry has a single drive of 4-8 TB these days.)

Heck - CDAC’ own supercomputer released in 2016 - Param Ishan has computing power of 250 TFLOPS. That makes it 250 times faster than our legendary “Param Padma”.
