Multi cellular organisms are made of millions of cells. cells are structural and functional unit of life. They show division of labour and each cell perform a particular function efficiently.Such cells are grouped together and are called as tissues. In other words Tissue is a group of cells which are similar in structure and origin and perform similar function.

In plants,most of the plant

is dead and provide mechanical strength to plants. Plant tissues are of two types.

1.  provide mechanical strength to organs.

2.  provide  the elasticity and flexibility to the organs.

3. They help the tissues to bend easily in various parts of a plant like- leaf, stem, and branches without damaging the plant .

4. xylem and phloem helps in the transportation of the important materials like metabolites , water ,etc

5. They help in the division of the cell and the growth of the plant.
