This act prevents offences of atrocities against the member of SCs/STs. It provide for relief and rehabilitation to the victim.special courts of trial of following offences have been set up for the trial of the offenders and to punish if provided guilty.

• FORCING A MEMBER OF SC/ST TO DRINK OR EAT ANY INEDIBLE OBNOXIOUS SUBSTANCE.
• INSULTING OR ANNOYING ANY MEMBER OF A SC/ST.
• WRONGFULLY DISPOSSESSING A MEMBER OF A SC/ST FROM HIS/HER LAND .
• FORCING ANYONE NOT TO VOTE OR TO VOTE FOR A PARTICULAR CANDIDATE.
• USE OF FORCE ON ANY WOMEN BELONGING TO A SC/ST.
• COMPELLING TO DO 'BEGAR' OR BONDED LABOUR.
