the saminist movement was a conservationist movement wich aimed at protecting the forest of java and preventing the exploitation of the forest resources by the dutch authourities .

the movement was initaited by surintiko samin who questioned the ownership of the dutch over the resources of java by 1907 the movement had acquired enough suppourt from the people and resistance against the restrictions that were imposed by the dutch became common. the saminists protested by lying on their land when the dutch protested and refused to pay taxes and perform labour.
