These are the major steps take place in female reproductive system:
Follicular phase
In this phase, follicle cells develop in the presence of FSH and LH. Estrogen level rises.
Ovulatory phase
This phase starts right after follicular phase; induces egg release from the follicle cell to the Fallopian tubes. In this phase, thick mucus starts developing. If woman has sex, the sperm will be embedded in the mucus and move towards the egg to fertilize it.
Luteal Phase
In this phase, corpus luteum forms and starts preparing uterus for implantation. On the contrary, if woman doesn’t have sex and the egg is not fertilized, it passes through the uterus and next menstrual cycle starts.
