Decentralization refers to the taking of powers from the central and state government and giving it to the local government. Following are the major steps taken towards decentralization:
1.Reservation of seats for the backward classes like the SC, ST, and OBC.
2.One third seats are reserved for the women in the Panchayati Raj system.
3.The State Election Commission has been created for each state for conducting regular municipal and panchayat elections.
4.Election has been made mandatory for every part of government regularly at fixed intervals.
