Majoritarianism is a belief according to which the majority community of a nation should frame rules in whichever way it wants, even if it results in disregarding and ignoring the wishes and needs of the minority communities.To create Sinhala Dominance, the government introduced a majority measure. An Act to accept Sinhala as the only official language was passed in 1956, thereby disregarding Tamil. 2. Governments have adopted preferential policies that have benefited Sinhala candidates for university and government positions.
