the fusion of male gamete with female gamete is called fertilisation.

male reproductive system has many parts but the main are testes which makes sperm and penis which is passed through vagina for the purpose of mating.

the main parts of female reproductive system are

ovaries which makes ovum every four weeks and uterus where the baby grows.

when the sperm enters the uterus it fuses with the ovum and forms zygote it later developes inti embroyo,foetus and after 9 months the baby is born.

Male reproductive system : It consist of the following organs -

1. Testes - A pair of testes are situated in scortum that lies outside the abdominal cavity and behind the penis. Testes produce sperms and hormones, testosterone hormone. Testosterone brings about changes in appearance of males at the time of puberty.
2. VAS deferens - From each testis , a duct arises which is known as vas deferens which unites with a tube coming from urinary bladder. It brings sperms from testis.
3. Urethra- Vas deferens tube opens into a common tube called Urethra . It runs through a muscular organ called penis. It is male copulatory organ.
4. Accessory glands - Glands like prostate and seminal vesicles and cowper's gland add their secretions which make transport of sperms easier and this fluid also provides nutrition.

Female reproductive system- It consists of the following organs :

1. Ovaries - Paired ovaries are located in the abdominal cavity near the kidney. Ovaries produce female gamete ( ovum or egg ) and secrete female hormones ( estrogen and progesterone) . One egg is produced every month alternately by one of the ovaries.
2. Fallopian tube - The egg is carried from the ovary to womb / uterus through a thin oviduct or fallopian tube.
3. Uterus- The two oviducts unite into an elastic bag like structure known as uterus.
4. Vagina - Uterus opens into vagina . It is female copulatory organ.
