The property of metals to be beaten into thin sheets without breaking is known as malleability. All metals can be beaten with a hammer to form very thin sheets also called foils. Gold and silver are among the best malleable metals.

Ductility means that metals can be drawn into thin wires. Gold and silver are the most ductile metals.
