Minorities refer to a group of people that live within the society that are different than the majority of people on the base of religion, race, beliefs, language etc. ... Roughly 14.2% population of India is Muslim, and yet they face marginalization.

Marginalization :-

The process of becoming banished to the fringe of society bottomed on socio-cultural or economic factors is known as marginalization.

Causes:An inability to meet basic needs , to build and use assets and powerlessness.

Examples:-

  • Senior citizens
  • Cultural or racial minorities.
  • Visually or hearing or physically challenged persons
  • Military Combat Veterans

Minorities:-

Minority refers to a  sociological group of people who live within the society and are different than majority of people , bottomed on demographic factors like religion,ethnicity,race,wealth,belief's.

Examples:-

  • Based on religion in India,Jain's,Buddhist's,Sikh's
  • Non-Hispanic whites
  • Native Hawaiians
  • African Americans,American Indians
  • Alaska Natives
  • Pacific Islanders
