The term non-cooperation movement meant not agreeing to the policies that the British adopted for the Indian government. The movement was organized to keep Indians informed about the brutal acts of the British such as killing people and to thwart incidents like the one that took place in Jallianwallah Bagh. The movement also strongly opposed the British rule in the country.
The movement was initiated in August 1920 by Mahatma Gandhi.
