The groups that seek to promote the interests of a particular section or a group of a society is called sectional interest groups. Trade unions, business associations and professional bodies (lawyers, doctors, teachers etc.) are some examples of sectional interest groups.
They perform a meaningful role in countering the undue influence of other groups. They create awareness about the needs and concerns of their own society.
