For the growth of agriculture, various things were initiated by the Cholas. Some of them are:

• Various areas in the forest were cleared. Lands were levelled.

• The delta region was built so that the flood can be prevented. Also, the canals were made for carrying out the water to the fields.

• Lots of methods were initiated to improve irrigation in the field. Tanks were also made to collect rainwater.
