In Tamil Nadu, the North East Monsoon winds, which cross the Bay of Bengal in October, meet with the damp wind of the retreating summer monsoon. Some moisture is also collected by these winds when they blow over the Bay of Bengal. These winds curve round the Bay of Bengal and blow directly on the Tamil Nadu coast giving that region the wettest and most disturbed weather of the whole year, mainly in October and November
